My latest news (2025)

Since leaving the Medical Research Council in 2010 I have been continuing collaboration with expert researchers and clinicians on the creation of free-to-access enhanced coagulation factor variant database websites. This involved working with a variety of experts in the creation of EAHAD-DB - the Variant Databases arm of the European Association for Haemophilia and Allied Disorders.

The first enhanced DB to be created was for haemophilia B, a.k.a. factor IX deficiency. This was based on Dr Peter Green's F9 database on the KCL website. The second and larger undertaking was to revamp and update the larger haemophilia A database (factor VIII deficiency) previously known as HAMSTeRS (1994-2010) and then as HADB (to 2015). EAHAD-DB constructed an enhanced and updated database for factor VII in 2017, and in 2020-2021 we collaborated to create DBs for factor V, factor X and factor XI.

During 2024-25 all the factors' variant reports have been collected into a completely new single-access site at dbs.eahad.org. In preparation are a three-gene Fibrinogen variant DB, a F13 DB and a von Willebrand Disease DB.
